Allow me to answer my own question. You go into
Layout->Document->Extra_tab->Float_placement, and place the following four
characters:
!hbp
That means "try real hard to place the float here, where the author put it.
If that doesn't work, put it at the bottom of the page. If that doesn

Oh-Oh!
I just tried out a figure float. Works great, except it puts the figure at
the top of the page, regardless of text flow. That means you can't use words
like "following" or "preceding". Am I doing something wrong, or is this a
feature. I've never encountered a situation where you couldn'

Hi!
Could it be an unbalanced "}" in the class document? In this case I'm using
the thesis.cls of John Weiss. I cannot find any unbalanced } in the LaTeX
preamble.
Is there a quick way to check for unbalanced "}" in a long document (i.e.
thesis.cls).
Thanks,

Webmaster, Troubleshoot
Hi all,
I' writing a report using the 'article' layout. I use the listings
package to insert some Java code into my report. I think listings is a
great package to insert source code into documents, thanks to its
creators!
My problem:

I'm in the process of moving my Linux boxes from iso8859-1 to
iso8859-15. Next stop: Lyx. The story so far: I used to work with
'faked' iso8859-15 support under Lyx, e.g. I would map the currency
sign like this
keycode 26 = e E currency
with xmodmap, set Lyx's screen fonts to *-iso8859-

Hello.
I'm a new member of the list, and - I'm sorry - I don't know Lyx very
well. I usually use LaTeX, but in this case I have to write a big
document, and I found out that Lyx it's easer to use. Anyway, I have a
problem:

Someone from the development team pointed out, that the problem will disappear
in 1.2.0 for other reasons. Thus I decided to wait for 1.2.0.

Hi,
actually this isn't a real LyX question but is anybody out there, who knows
how to break long URL's within a BibTeX bibliography. I use the "misc."
entry for documents from the internet and put the URL in the "howpublished"
field, eg.
howpublished = {Internet

Dear fellow lyxers,
Is there a function to exit math mode that I can bind to a key?
Detailed explanation:
What I want to do is making the key Ctrl-comma to insert a small space
(\, in LaTeX) and to show as a small space in LyX. I can achieve this with
\bind "C-comma" "math-insert ,"
