Is there any way to make an environment that applies only to a highligted
section of text, and doesn't set itself off as a new paragraph? I thought I
did that once, but I can't remember how I did it and tonite no amount of
messing with latextype would do it for me.
Thanks

Does anyone know of a groff to lyx convertor? I have several packages
written under groff (well actually ditroff), but I would like to convert them
to lyx or tex if possible.
Thanks for your help.

Hi all,
How do I make an ultra-simple LyX command. By that I mean something I can
type into the minibuffer area. Like font-bold, font-code, font-default and
the like. This is not a LaTeX command (though I spoze it would need to
interface with LaTeX commmands to be rendered correctly in Postscr
Hello everyone,
There is a new release of the tex2pdf bash shell script.
It is only a frontend to hyperref, pdftex and similar tools. So you still
need all of them.
Thanks to everyone who has helped to get this done. Special thanks to
Steffen Macke and Jean-Pierre Chretien who have helped a lot

Hi!
I've configured Lyx to put the page numbers in the foot of each page. It
works fine. However, at the beginning, I have two pages of TOC and I want
them to be counted in roman figures (I, II, III ...) and then start with page
one (arabic letters). I'm not enough into Lyx or Latex to know ho

I got QuickWord free with my HandEra. It isn't as comprehensive as
WordSmith, but my LyX/Palm system only calls for a very basic editor.

give the cell a fixed width:
put the cursor in the column and click right mous
Hi!
I'm a LyX beginner and have a couple of questions related to tables.
1) How can I make a table follow the margins assigned to a document.
The table is aligned fine with the left column, but it goes over the right
margin. Is that how LyX is designed?
2) How can I get two rows for the title

I just installed LyX 1.1.6fix3 from RPM package. When I try to start it says:
lyx: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot
load shared object file: No such file or directory
I have the following libs:
[/usr/lib] ls libstdc++-* |less
libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.a

Since Trolltech has released a macosx port of qt and LyX's GUI is
being ported to qt, I would like to know if we will see soon a native
port of lyx for macosx

Hello again,
I tried
\usepackage[compact]{titlesec}
in the preamble but there is no difference in the DVI output
I also tried
\usepackage[compact]{titlesec}
\titlespacing{\chapter}{0pt}{1*}{1*}
in the preamble but that didn't do anything either.
(by the way what do the *'s mean in the above

Hello All,
I am writing a report that must be limited to 20 pages. I would like the
chapter headings to take up less space (vertically) on the page so I can fit
more into the report.
I'm trying to use the titlesec package to produce more compact chapter
headings. I have read the documentation
