I recall a while back someone found an early post to the LyX list, looking
suspiciously like an announcement of the intended development of KDE. Here's
the confirmation of this suspicion...

Thanks for the answer, guys.
The problems are:
I downloaded the rpms from Sylvan ftp but install was not accepted due to lack
of the Xforms.
I also downloaded the tar.gz, but was unable to install due my lack of
know-how, alt

that's MUCH better than a 404. obsolete info should be labelled as such, but left

Redhat 7.1 should come with LyX somewhere on the CDs.
Another option is to pick an rpm from the net like
ftp://ftp.sylvan.com/pub/lyx/lyx-1.1.6fix2-1.i386.rpm
(which can be reached via the LyX homepage www.lyx.org)

Good morning,
I'm trying to install Lyx on my RedHat 7.1 but I'm having problems.
I had Lyx in another Linux (Mandrake) pre-installed and I enjoyed very
much. and don't want
to quit. I'm just a newbie on this business.
Can anyone give me some help?
Thanks

Hi folks,
I am trying to get citation labels like [1-3,6] instead of [1,2,3,6] in lyx
1.16fix2c/miktex under win98. I have installed the package cite and added
the command \usepackage{cite} in the preamble. This had no effect on the
output. any ideas?
thanks

You can use the LaTeX command
\addcontentsline{file}{sec_unit}{entry}
The \addcontentsline command adds an entry to the specified list or table

I'm working with Klyx and need some help referring to the table of
contents. I can't find any possibility to enter something else in the toc
then the numbered sections, subsections and so on. But I would like to
place an unnumbered section too in the table of contents. Is there any

There is no big problem to support this within LyX if you have a working
LaTeX solution and need this desperately..

Hello,
the ieeetran.cls file is not installed on the system (debian linux) I am using
lyx on. When running latex iwthout lyx, it is no problem to put the file
IEEEtran.cls in the working directory. But lyx seems to have problems, when
running reconfigure, I get

What would LaTeX export look like? It does not seem supported "natively"

There's \widehat and there's \check but there isn't a \widecheck.
Is it possible to widen normal \check?

I've decided to use BibTeX because it makes all the necessary formattings
depending on
I am not using bibtex. I am only using the "bibliography"-style available under
the "report"-class.
If this means that I am using bibtex, I suppose I have to specify a bibtex
database, but I am not aware of having created one. It just seems like a huge
machinery to start for, say, 15 references.
