I hate to submit this to the developers list, 'cuz it's not really a
bug, so I'll just pass it on to the "lyx-users" list instead, and hope
for some response...
I submit this message with full knowledge that this has been discussed
extensively in the past. I'm just curious why, with such a major

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone is able to get the $Id: $ string (defined
by RCS) into the footer or header without going into math mode.

Hi,
Something I want to share...
I have upgraded to 1.1.6 by using the rpms available at the ftpside. But
then the shortcut in the KDE menu has disappeared and I was able to run lyx
only from a terminal. Then, I tried to make a shortcut for it on my own and
I did that. But then, I lost the icon f

Thanks for the reply, Jean-Marc. As usual, I went back to my files and beat
on them for another 1-2 hours before addressing your note, as I am quite
bull-headed about things like this...
Well, I finally weaseled out the answer to my problem. It has nothing to do
with _anything_ Except the follow
Hi,
I have 1.1.6 running under Solaris 8 on a Sun. I've noticed two little
problems:
1. If I change something using the Preferences pop-up, the prefrences file gets
overwritten, and only the just-made changes appear in it. The previous
customizations are lost. Is this the intended behavior?

I'm working on a project right now that requires me to create
auto-fillin documents. I want to use LyX to create the docs, then go to
LaTeX, then programmatically fillin "fields" in the LaTeX, the use
texi2pdf. My big problem is that I need to have two things in the
footer of every page.

Hi,
I have compiled Lyx 1.1.6 under Solaris 8 using gcc 2.95.1
and GNU make 3.79
Although I see no errors during either configure or compile, the Lyx
executable is unable to write text to any files. It simply creates zero
length files. I also note that it creates a directory instead of a
buffer

the german original). I did not get this error in
