In a little more detail: I have been searching high and low, and all I find in
any document on the web are polemics by people in the sciences against the
citation styles used in the humanities (which give full citations in the
footnotes, accompanied by ibid and such).

Does anybody know of a bibtex package out there that has a cite command
appropriate for footnotes, according to the Chicago style? I looked at
frankenstein, but I only see cite commands for inline citations.
I suppose the thing to do otherwise is to put some stuff in the preamble? But I

I've compiled 1.1.5fix2 both on my PC and on my PPC. On the PC I get
german localization, on the PPC not (I know it generally works on the
PPC because a precompiled 1.1.4fix3 .deb shows up in german).
Both are Debian 2.2 potato boxes. I used 'deb-make' and
'dpkg-buildpackage -B' on the sources on
