IIRC, the difference is whether your cursor ends up at the end of current word

In the preferences we have under Look & Feel the option
Save documents compressed by default
What exactly does this do?
Here on Windows, I cannot see any effect. The saved files are still uncompressed. Also the backup
files are uncompressed.
I only get a compressed file when I use the option D
