Interix (http://www.interix.com , by softway systems),
would probably be a platform that would be of interest.
It would probably be quite straight forward as well.
(I use their product, but am not a developer, nor
am I familiar with Lyx internals, and therefore
couldn't say if it would be easier

ran it: it now works find, since I got the bright idea to remove #define
XOPENIM from config.h.
The configure script should take care of this, I guess. You can do 'uname
-a' and then you'll get 'CYGWIN_NT-4.0 PETTEN 2
