You probably have spaces in your path to the lyx file
(e.g. /home/foo/My Dir/file.lyx) and this is not allowed.

Yes I cn export it to latex and generate dvi by hand. But it's missing some
important settings. e.g. page margins that I have set, are lost.
Secondly it's not generating Table of contents in dvi.

I have no problems with View->DVI for this document at all. Moreover, I can
export to Latex and create the dvi file by hand without any errors at all.
This is with LyX-116. Not fix1.
