This error has happened to me a few times now, without needing the more
complex steps outlined below.
It seems if I hold down shift and then left a few times, to create a
highlighted region, I can make exactly the same crash happen.
It would seem to be within the selection handling routines.

I don't quite know how I got this or how to reproduce it. But here goes.
Latest SVN. Was surprised to find no emergency saves generated, was this
feature removed??
