It looks like this has been mostly resolved in 2.1.3 (the version I am
running).
The advanced find window pops up improperly sized and not usable, but now
responds properly to resizing.

The double words are still occurring. Fortunately the advanced find and
replace can be used to locate them. However, it obviously cant recover a
deleted word nor does it do well at finding a pair of duplicated words.

I assume the last one at 22:08:20.550 was me opening the message pane about
30 seconds after it occurred.
It certainly seems to have logged some part of the word-replace.
Hopefully that is enough to start to pinpoint the root cause.

Where would I have to look to
find out about the syntax for writing my own expressions?
I did try to create a user defined regular expression but because I really
have no idea about the syntax required, it just resulted in replacing the
duplicate word with the literal expression plus with \endregexp{} tacked
on the end.

A bit annoying nonetheless.
This is currently happening for both LyX 2.1.2 and 2.1.3 on Windows 7
(64-bit) systems. But I do also have a feeling it was happening with 2.1.1
and possibly 2.0.x.

On a similar note, AFAIK most of the size reduction comes from Ghostscript
reducing the size of the raster images and those with raster components.
The next level of usability (beyond using a converter on a whole document)
would be to have an option within the figure float setting or graphic

Sorry all - false alarm. For whatever reason, when I installed 1.6.7, the
default LyX switched to 2.0alpha4 on my system, and I did not notice this.
So it turns out that scrolling and dialogue boxes work fine in 1.6.7.
Again, sorry for the false alarm.

Thanks to all of the developers for their hard work - 2.0 will surely be a
major step forward once the kinks are worked out!

I just discovered that mouse scrolling does not work in 2.0 alpha 4 on Mac.
Can anyone else confirm?

Hmm - dreadful silence.
I found a work-around: lift all children documents that use text wrap

This is definitely a bug in RC4 (I haven't yet tested it in RC5).

This only sets colors in the Lyx editing window. For the GUI, assuming
you have the XForms version (I don't know how Qt works), there's a second
file, preferences.xform. Here's mine:
\gui_background31 31 63
\gui_buttonbottom 199 199 0
\gui_buttonleft 199 199 0
\gui_buttonright 199 199 0
\gui_buttontop199 199 199
\gui_inactive 200 200 200
\gui_push_button0 0 255
\gui_selected 0 0 0
\gui_text 255 255 0
Hope this gives you a starting point. The colors probably need to be
fiddled around with some more (I'm new to Lyx myself), but at least it's
halfway usable.

I fail to see how eplain and LyX are anything alike myself - ones a
