I don't know if the pasting of plain text is related (i.e. pasting of TeX instead of math), but it is certainly something that occurs at similar times to the other cut/copy/paste problems. I do understand that it math pasted outside of a math inset is likely to end up as TeX plain text. However, this is not what happens. Two examples of similar phenomena that I have observed which are possibly related to the bug and both occur when the problems start: Highlighting a whole math inset, copying and then pasting elsewhere results in the pasting of plain TeX text. Repeated attempts to copy and paste and math insets after the problem starts only results in the pasting of TeX. The normal operation of cut/copy of a math inset results in the "Paste Recent" menu displaying the TeX code. However, when the problem starts the line displaying for the most recent cut/copied entry is blank (it can still be selected but also results in the pasting of TeX). Selecting a Figure Float, copying and then pasting elsewhere results in the pasting of ONLY the plain text in the caption. The "Paste Recent" entry also goes blank, whereas in normal operation is displays the float caption text. Further to the problem with pasting the Figure Float, sometimes LyX then fails to recognise what has been copied and displays a popup saying it cant find some external file (cant remember exactly what though). At the the extreme end of the problem, the paste function is disabled altogether as previously pointed out. Whether directly related or not I don't know, but it is all certainly linked to problems with the the LyX usage of the clipboard .
