I'm not completely sure). Moreover, if I try to
change those settings, I'm unable to enter Ctrl-Tab or Ctrl-Shift-Tab
into the shortcut picker, it's as if I haven't pressed any key at all.

It seems that the problem of not linking with libintl in systems with
gettext installed is back in lyx-1.1.6cvs. This is Slackware Linux 4.0
(with *lots* of hacking, but still libc5 :-).
