Maybe it would be a great idea to have a portable version of LyX that works without installation, e.g. from USB-stick. The settings should be able to save in a single settings-file that can be loaded manually or (if it is in the same directory as the programfile) is loaded automatically.
If technically possible that would be a big step ahead. Greetings, Carlos
