Thanks, with utf8 encoding it works here as well, although the locale is still "C". However, this is not a major problem, as I can easily change the locale by using Sys.setlocale() within the Sweave/R code chunk. Can someone confirm the problem with XeTeX and Sweave? Erich -Ursprüngliche N
