LXQt is still relatively early in development. Things will improve.
However, the future of LXDE on any distro doesn't look good. Upstream
development has transitioned almost entirely to LXQt.
Patches welcome and all, though. :)

Classic tl;dr. Someone fill me in if you need my help. Did want to point
out that the issues with the installer really had nothing to do with this
situation, but was more about planning for things like Snappy. My idea
about getting a text mode for ubiquity so that we could get rid of the

So what *is* the status of upstart? AFAIK we're transitioning entirely away
from it and over to systemd as a default, but will upstream still be
available for people that want to use it? As an Ubuntu product,
I just got a iBook and I would like to offer it to anyone interested in
testing with it. If you would like it please email me your address and I
will send it on its way. thanks in advance!

Boris,
What kind of work? I already had someone ask about the machine and I'm
inclined to give to give it to them, but if Wolfgang is doing ppc-specific
development, I might be willing to make an exception. That, or find another
machine. I do seem to regularly be given ppc machines. I do have a G5
Thanks for testing and bug squashing, folks. Keep it up!

It's too bad we haven't heard from Julien as my bet is that this is easily
fixed. That being said, assuming we don't, it best that we do release
rather than not release at all, so I vote for the DVD/USB only.

I've got multiple PPC machines that I'm willing to donate to folks that are
interested in testing with them, including a PowerMac G5. First come, first
serve. Send me an email if you want them!

I marked it as ready, so we're good. Melodie also pointed out we could
always suggest people do 800MB CDs. You may be able to overburn it but the

Going forward, we may want to look at removing extra languages from the

I agree this is an important thing that should be done. I know that Brendan
has done this stuff, so he would be a good person to connect with. If
anyone else wants to pick up on this, it would be most appreciated!!!

The team is still alive and you're welcome to join. Basically it's a
cross-discipline team meant to organize bigger picture ideas that affect
multiple teams. We do occasionally weed through the blueprints to remind
us of what we need to work on next. Current work is focused on LXQt.
