To diagnose this, I would open up a terminal. Check to see if PRINTER
or LPDEST variables are set. If not, run `lpoptions` and make sure you
have a default printer. If not, you can set that up with `lpadmin` or
by accessing the CUPS interface by pointing a browser at
localhost:631. The System Tools → Printers dialog can do the same
thing, too.

Once `lpoptions` shows an appropriate default, `lpr` will print right
to it. You can check the man pages for more information on `lpr` and
`lp` and you could modify the alternative print command to hardcode to
a particular printer or add any other options you want.
