I have a suspicion as to what the problem might be. Can you send a
picture of your keyboard?
Also it would be nice to have the output of `setxkbmap -query -verbose 10`.
It also might be good to have the same thing if you do `setxkbmap

Did ctrl-space not work? That's the default, right?

Ctrl+space works, as do other shortcuts without letters.
as I said, the keyboard switches between Hebrew and English, but when the
keyboard is set to Hebrew the shortcuts that require English letters
(Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V and so forth) won't work.
Other Hebrew speaking users I know reported similar pro
It seems the solution I gave you isn't a permanent one. I've found (with

Of course, you should uninstall the Hebrew input method before doing this.

Ok, a good friend, and far more knowledgeable than myself in the world of
linux, gave me the solution.
He says he thinks the way Lubuntu switches between languages is the source
of the problem.
He told me to run this command:
*setxkbmap -option grp:alt_shift_toggle "us,il"*
Now everything works
I tried it out in Gedit. LibreOffice still has the spellchecker.

It worked! Thank you so much!
The only problem is now I seem to have lost the Hebrew spell checker, which
I guess is part of the other Hebrew input method. Is there a way to get
only the spell checker?

`ibus-setup` from the command line. Or you can use the "Run" option in
the menu. Or you can use the Alt-F2 shortcut for that Run option.

Well, I installed it but now embarrassingly I have no Idea where ibus-setup
is...
Anyway, as far as I know there are no physical differences between US and
Hebrew keyboards.

Well, it might work with the Hebrew keyboard, too. It's worth trying with both.

Thanks! Well, I have a US keyboard too (I have little stickers for the
Hebrew letters) so this definitely seems worth a try.

One thing I read from there is potentially installing the `ibus-m17n`
package and then choosing the Hebrew input method in `ibus-setup`. I
actually just did this, switched to the Hebrew input method and was
able to copy and paste no problem. Of course, I do have a US keyboard,

Thank you very much.
The problem is global as far as I can tell (in every program and even in
the file manager).
I will try changing the layout and see if it helps.

First off, there is an [Ubuntu Local Community in Israel][1] that you
may want to connect with, especially considering they have probably

Secondly, this is not solely a Lubuntu issue. Sure, we have different

The site doesn't seem to be related to linux...
I looked through the different keyboard options in "preferences" and there
aren't many of them, and nothing looks relevant...
