Hello again, I've mentioned or requested that your call for testers should
be posted on the Ubuntu Apple Users forum . . . as of 5 minutes ago I don't
see any post there from you or anyone calling for 14.10 testers. A couple
days ago I posted a

Forwarding this: top posted comment: Boris R. has been giving me some
pointers towards getting 14.04 PPC into more use-able state on my G4 iBook
. . . seems to have made a difference using "Linux video=ofonly
radeon.agpmode=-1" at the second Yaboot window . . . now I would wonder
how to make that

Looking at the PPC options for this phase, it looks like there is only an
"alternate installer" option for Lubuntu, and a server option . . . .
Unfortunately I've got no spare unused HDs sitting around to try out an alt
installer on; after last time where I was trying to do a test of

@BR:
Alt install was supposed to be just the files to be installed, not bootable
as "live desktop" . . . . So, should fit on CD and simply run the install;
downside, no way to test it out before installing it.

So there is now a live desktop 14.04.2 for ppc available to download and
test? And there is reasonable expectation that it will at least be
boot-able?

Had the chance to download the daily for vivid yesterday and I "burned" it
to a USB drive . . . using LM17 USB disk creator on my '10 MBPro. I also
have rEFInd installed. Booted up using the option key and I got two FW

Not to put a cold shower on it, but it seemed that my test of the Live

testing an iBook possibly G3 . . . he seemed to also report some "fails."

Screenshots look nice . . . I also posted here or on Lubuntu users about
getting Xubun 12.04 running on a Powermac G4 with 450 MHz processor for use

for PPC is not what it was, but several people have contributed to the

Right, that would seem to be the key point to the basic kernel issues for

Good question on the bug report, I think I posted here the issue I was
having with U-MATE 15.04 totally disintegrating on my iBook G4 due to
issues with "systemd" or some such thing . . . total loss of GUI and
ability to even log into TTY so that I couldn't use apport to get the
