Are you making two copies of these? when you delete a file from the File
Manager (Desktop Folder), on your Desktop, obviously it will be remo
I thought I said Lubuntu12.10, When I copied the backed up folder/files
from my usb stick to my /home. It also made a copy on my desktop. If I try
to delete the desktop copy, it also removes my /home copy. that should not
be.

It is 32 bit not a upgrade, is a clean install from 12.04 to 12.10. this is
the same I have done all the time and even on that same desktop it did not

I just tried to re-produce that and everything is fine. I tried to copy
some files from my USB Drive to my Home Folder (Yes, I do have a separate
/home partition) and it didn't duplicate the copy to the Desktop Folder.

This may seem silly but try to open One window for PCManFM and two tabs,
one for the source (USB) and the 2nd for the destination and start copying
the files.
For me, I usually do this when I have multiple files/folders to transfer

I opened another window for The File Manager
Copy the source folders from USB
Paste to my Home
