First I need more information. Can someone on a raring / powerpc install
can list me the installed size of the installed packages with "linux" in
the name ? So I can compare them with standard binaries ?

I already removed all the languages supports, and it's still oversized.
I suspect there is something wrong with the size of the new PPC
kernel(

make a cd sized image that then downloads the rest of the files, i.e. a
semi-netboot image
