Javier, you might want to combine Ubuntu Global Jam with Software
Freedom Day, which is also on 20 September. It looks like Mexico is
working on putting at least one team together:

What can be done during a cycle is date-dependent as some windows of

Let us loop back to the main issue.
Can we come up with 3 to 5 event scenarios that LoCo groups could choose
between as starters to build from? We've knocked out translations and
packaging as possibilities. Randall has brought up marketing as well as some
non-germane matters.

I expect that everyone would welcome some suggestions for how one could
work on marketing. I know plenty of our LoCo teams have trouble with it,
and it'd be interesting to see what new marketing materials could come
out of a marketing global jam.

I'll be opening a new thread around Translations Day. I believe Global
Jam can stick with one of the dates proposed, and we can try and work
for the two-weekend format for next cycle.

Translations Day is an interesting proposal! It's really one of the
only things that can be done by
My goal is marketing and growing the project. I am looking forward to doing
that 🙌

Then, would this 'two weekend' format work? Or we should just keep one
weekend and do another 'translations day' or something like that?

If we are discouraging people from running Global Jams to do that, then we are
excluding some communities.

According to the wiki, Global Jams are opportunities where people get
together around a weekend to work together to improve Ubuntu. Of course,
this can involve an Ubuntu Hour done afterwards, but specifically the
term Global Jam is used for the dates where people unite to contribute.

And one just to gather people that simply love Ubuntu. There is no rule that
Ubuntu Global Jams must include work items.
Just sayin...

Then, it would probably be a good idea to analyze if it's worth having
two global jams per cycle - one for packaging/design stuff, and other
one for docs/translations.

Vancouver will be eating jam 🙌, so the dates aren't too important, except that
we always avoid long weekends.
I have found that fun events bring more people to Ubuntu.
