Hi IGLUs !
Due to the financial situation, I have to give up my ISDN line.
Any sugestion for a standard PCI Software MODEM I can use with my MDK 8.0?
I thought of buying an Intel Chipset MODEM, like the one's you get with new
PCs.

Simply run 'free'

I thought you were aiming at a bit more than that.

Hi People,
KDE 3.0.4 RPMS for Red Hat 7.3 and Red Hat 8.0 (the normal KDE look, not the new
redhat's look) can be retrived from:
http://download.kde.org/stable/3.0.4/RedHat/
most of the hebrew related bugs were fixed there (thanks lars) and it should be very
stable.
Enjoy,

Nope, won't run - seems like not all the mirrors has synced yet..
try this direct link:
http://download.uk.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/3.0.4/RedHat/ - both 8.0 and 7.3 are there,
and if you want Meni's hebrew translation - don't forget to take it from the noarch
directory.

Good on you!
I have similar concerns about the road that RED HAT is choosing to take,
looks like the thickness part in red hat's brain is growing, I hope its
benign.

Hi,
Intel's modem are good and supported well under Linux. Connexant based (HSF
and HCF) are also supported well, but with the HSF variant you cannot send
faxes.
Old winmodems which uses the Lucent chipset can be used as well under Linux
with the LTmodem module.

The good news are that the password is not

I'm experiencing problems on mounting an exported / directory (I know
it's not safe practice - no choice and in secure intranet).
I can export the "/" but when I try to mount it I get a permission
denied error.
I've looked for configuration flags both on the export and on the mount.

Hi,
My card is an AverMedia AverTV card. From what I could tell when playing
with VirtualDub (for some vid captures I did), and from the filenames of the
drivers themselves I think it's a bttv based card..

I have the same card here.
bttv 848 under Video For Linux I think. just compile it as module and your

Hello.
I'm trying to create an internal freedb server on my home machine.
this DB has very large directories with a lot of small entries.
I have it on a default ext3 partition, and it takes 2.4GB on the HD.

I am successfully using a Zoom Lucent-based "Winmodem" under Redhat 7.3
and Gentoo 1.2
I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work with Mandrake. (Just get
the right "ltmodem" driver for your kernel.)
