Do you have a copy of tex (I guess it is tetex) on /usr/local?
If so - which of them is the one you use?
Where have you installed the hebrew latex files?
Have you tried running /usr/local/bin/elatex test-heb.tex ?
(Note that the outputs are created by default in the current directory, so
you are

FYI: a patch by Dekel Tsur <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> was posted to lyx-devel
mail list to add some hebrew support to Lyx. I have just applied it
against the sources from latest CVS version from lyx.org. cant say much as
a LyX newbe but it already seems functional and promising.
