In general, the major problems were compatability issues (libraries). Since
my machine is a test machine, I decided to install from scratch and compare.

After updating RH7.3 to 8.0, all the buttons on the kicker (the KDE panel)
stopped functioning: when clicking on them, I get message in stile of "the
file or directory file:/blah/blah
TAU students which apply for an account on CC servers (zoot and comfy)
may use the doc2ps program in order to convert doc files to PS and then
view them on a PS viewer (or even further use ps2pdf and use Acrobat).
This is a bit awkward, but it works.
