Hi.
Can anybody recommend a good way to really check my server load? I'm
currently checking the load using uptime (and check the average load
values), but this hardly seems a good way to really know whether the server
is 'sweating'.
Can anybody recommend any better way?

Hello Schlomo!
1. That's xfs' description in freshmeat: "A high-performance journaling file
system."
so it supports journaling, I guess :)
2. That's its homepage, as freshmeat says (didn't try it). Maybe you
could get more info:http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/

Current winmodems fall into two classes; DSP modems and HSP (Host signal
processing modems) modems. The DSP modems have a on board Digital Signal
Processor which does most of the work, like the IBM modem you described. The
HSP modems leave it up to the CPU to do the decoding. The PC Tel modem i
Hello Shlomo!
I don't know about XFS much more than you do,
I just know that :
1. It's faster than ext2
2. The recovery after power failours and such things (Like what fsck does at
startup),
is much faster and more efficiency.
It will have a kernel support in 2.4.x as I understood.
Cya,

or get one based on the ESS chipset which is much easier to find then a
Lucent modem in Isael. (Also, I have found that some Lucent winmodems [one I
bought in the US] don't like Bezeq's phone lines and will only work in the
US)

Hi All,
Lately, I have seen many people who wants to buy an Analog PCI modems, and
having problem to select one which is supported under Linux..
No more..
I have mirrored the new version of Linmodem howto (a new version came out today)

Actually, if you read the GPL, you will find it is perfectly legal for

Hello All
I think it's a real 'hutzpa' that SuSE started selling version 7.0
already,
but still doesn't let people download.
99% of the programs there were made by volunteers (GPL and all this),
and they cost money for it, and don't let people get it.

I know that there is one company that distribute afs client for Linux for
free.
I even once installed it and worked with it. I was not impressed...
you can try looking for it on the Web.
I now work with IBM's afs and it works fine. beside the fact that from time

Hi,
I saw on the net a note about IBMs AFS going open source.
This thing seems to be quite interesting in terms of Windows/Unix mixed
networks, but I didn't yet find a download site :-(
Does anybody have experience with AFS, especially on Linux & Windows 9X/NT
?
