Hello List
The attached patch (written by Dirk Herrendoerfer) adds support for the
builtin tuner of the samsung smt7020 box ( based on an Intel830 board ).
It would be fine to see this one inside the v4l tree.

This issue was reported over a year ago and is still not fixed in the

Hi,
Sorry for posting again :)
With this patch it sometimes takes a long time til a channels is tuned.
With this patch my TTs1401 works much better than without.

Why is this patch not in the current hg tree ?
Is there no one responsible for this ?
What's to do to get it integrated ?

I expect that the signal strength still is lower, but also the BER
which is more important.

Hello,
Are the DVB-driver developers aware of this problem ?
I am surprised to see no comments here. For some VDR-users the UPT- or
datastream broken error is a great pain.

Hello,
I just "grepped" through the dvb driver documentation, and I didn't find
anything about the parameters for dvb-ttpci ( like vidmode ... ).
Am I missing something, or are these features undocumented ?

Check the existence of the firmware file /usr/share/hotplug/tda1004x.fw
Are you sure about that ???
Normally this is /usr/share/hotplug/tda0014x.bin or .mc,
I thought it must be located under /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware.

Hi,
One ( hopefully ) last point:
It often happens after startup the first channel is not displayed by
vdr, that means, I have to switch once and the everything works fine. Is
that a vdr or dvb problem ?

Hello,
The main Problem can be the cable you are using, and the length of it.
I would suggest to connect the J2 to a female SCART connector with a
short ( and if possible shielded ) cable connection ( ~ 30 cm ).
You have to
that in this cse the pins 1-2, 3-6 and 19-20 must
be crossed.
Then take a high quality Scart-Cable and it should work fine

There are other cheap budget cards. The upcoming Flyvideo DVB card

competition for the big TT cards very soon ...
What about the cheap B2C2 card ? It would be great to use a 30 Euro card
under linux and vdr.
