Would it not be better if we had fewer attendants on each day but have more
open days? For example. instead of three attendants on each of two days,
why not two attendants on each of three days?

I fully support Margo's idea, clearly supported by others here, of having a
"make-up day" on weeks where a holiday keeps the Transfer Station closed
for one of its days. I think that is an extremely reasonable ask to ensure
that the town's public services, service the public.
I also support adding
Barring my misinterpretation of the original post, what was suggested is an
additional day in years where Christmas/New Years holidays occur on either
Wednesdays or Saturdays. This year, a Lincolnite who can only attend to TS duty
on Wednesdays, last visited the TS on 12/18 couldn’t visit
I think we should feel privileged that we live in such a well run town with employees who are willing to do things like run a trash disposal and recycling center. If we have to wait in line some days, after holidays when we’ve all enjoyed good meals and time with our families, then we should be gra
I am sorry if I wasn’t clear. I wasn’t looking to add an additional
transfer day from 2 times per week to 3. Only when a big holiday occurs on
one of the transfer days (Wednesday or Saturday) like 4th of July,
Christmas or New Years, which may happy once every couple of years, would I

With all due respect, we are talking about adding a day here and there over
what’s likely to be several years. Even at 1.5 x rate, this would be little
additional money allotted for these holidays. From looking at the calendar,
it looks like July 4th 2026 would be the next time this would even happ
Seth is correct. Our DPW budget is tight and Chris does an excellent job working in that constraint. We, as a town, choose where to allocate our taxes. We chose an expensive new construction project when there were less costly alternatives. That was our choice. The trade-off is to keep DPW, Public Safet
Regretfully, it does not work that way. I am reasonably certain our DPW employees are non-exempt under FLSA. Therefore if they work “overtime” they must be compensated at 1.5x base wage. If they don’t work overtime and/or the town doesn’t wish to fund overtime, you are correct DPW could repriori
I was then just before noon today and there was no line and there were two
parking spots available.

Maybe I am missing something so please correct me if I am wrong, but aren’t
all of the people who work at the transfer station supervising garbage drop
off are full time employees of the town?
If so, I don’t believe re-prioritizing the schedule of the transfer
employees should cost the town money.
Alternatively, it is ok that that once every few years, when a holiday lands on
a W or Sat., that a trip to the dump will just take longer. I think we can
handle that.
IMO, a “zoo” is the Cross Bronx Expressway during rush hour, or trying to get
to Logan back when the Big Dig was still a thing.
Hi,
Again the point is access! Not so much whether it’s packed. It’s about only
having one day as an option for 2 weeks in a row. This never used to
happen. This can be stressful for people who don’t have great storage for
trash- especially over big holidays when there is much more trash,

When I went today it Wasn’t bad at all. Busy yea, but I didn’t have to wait more than a minute or two to park and begin unloading. Perhaps you just hit “rush hour”?Sent from my iPhone On Jan 4, 2025, at 2:52 PM, Margo Fisher-Martin wrote:Thanks for the detailed response Andy, and thanks to everyo
Thanks for the detailed response Andy, and thanks to everyone else who has
responded to me. I’m actually only advocating for an extra day on weeks
that the holiday falls on a transfer station day. I’m not advocating for a
third opportunity each week, even though that would be great! So it
shouldn’t

I thought in the very early 90s it was more than 3 days per week, but my
recollection is fuzzy. I do remember when it dropped to 2 days a week

Hi,
Interesting, because I’ve received a lot of private messages from people in
agreement.
I’m glad that you did not encounter the same conditions that many of us did
at 10:30. And perhaps some people are available every Saturday, but
certainly not everyone.
It’s not just about whether it’s crowded
