I'm trying to make some notation for guitar with Chords, Chord Rhythms,
Melody (Standard Notation), and Melody (Tab). My staves are all over the
place.
Originally configured, lilypond ignored the layout indicated in the
\score block. Putting contents of \staffClassicalGuitar in a \new
Kale Good writes:

Why are you using \\ here? << ... \\ ... >> is a shortcut for
<< \new Voice = "1" ... \new Voice = "2" ... >>
and you most emphatically don't want to create lots of new voices here.
