For me, I couldn't really get started w/ Lilypond until I installed jEdit and LilyPondTool. I'm running Win XP and I already had cygwin and JRE installed. jEdit is a bit slow to load and I haven't tried other editors to compare, but I like LilyPondTool and look forward to the Christmas present B

Me too. I tried them both. ConText and the Lily highlighter worked fine straight out of the box (although I needed to make it case sensitive to correctly pick up the keywords) and I find it suits my style of working very well - usually with lots of files open; I failed to get jEdit to work even
