My Bad! Sorry. Both methods below did work. I
chose to go with:
"``God"8 is8 "king'';"4
because it looked nicer. I won't say what I was doing
wrong...
Thanks!

Arggg! I tried:
"``God"8 is8 "king'';"4
as well as:
"\"God"8 is8 "king\";"4
neither of them print any quote marks. I end up with:
God is king;
instead of this:
"God is king;"
I'm using version 1.6.8 out of cygwin. Am I not doing
this right? Thanks for all the help.

You have to enclose the "word" in double quotes, and then escape the
quote with a backslash:
"\"God" is "King\""
Don't ask me why.

IIRC, anything other than certain punctuation and the letters is not
interpreted as a lyric unless it's inside double quotes. Perhaps:
"``God"8 is8 "king
All,
Thanks for the suggestions. In my lyrics I tried:
``God8 is8 king''
This did not produce any quotes at all. Any other
ideas?
thanks!

Hello!
How do I include quotation marks in lyrics? I'm
putting a backslash in front of them, but this seems
to put two little dots above the next letter, instead
of double-quotes before. For example:
\"God is King\"
Is this not right?
thanks,
