Well...after downloading 2.8.0, tweaking the ebuild, and upgrading
my version of Ghostscript, all is well again. It's probably
Ghostscript's fault; my previous version was 7.07 and I upgraded to
8.15.

This sounds very weird, since note heads and rest symbols come from the
same font file. Regarding lilypond-book, I really hope you use the
