I know this is an old post, but following the example of Lilypond
documentation for using numbers instead of note names, I created the
following snippet to show custom note names:

the beam length
before the first E (on the same voice) it changes the beam for the E, but
not for the D.

First I would like to thank the Lilypond development/support community for
this great tool.
I installed lilypond from the cygwin packet. The lilypond version I'm using
is 2.10.7
I have the following problem. When I run the lilypond comand (no options,
just "lilypond ") I can't get to en
