Hi all,
I'm getting a bit overwhelmed working on the documentation, so I'm
asking for help. I've posted a list of tasks to the -devel mailist.
Some of them require very little previous knowledge of LilyPond, and
are actually a great way to learn. You can read them here:
http://lists.gnu.or
The work-around to this is to always run lilypond from a full path name to
the EXE (installation bin full path), after changing the current directory
to the folder where you want all outputs to go (typically your song folder).
The "--output=" option appears to not work for all the various file ty
I am running lilypond on winXP from a DOS prompt, I enter the following
commands specifying that the output file is to go to a specific folder named
by "--output=". After execution the .PS file does go to that folder fine

My current solution, which only works in a 3/4 jazz waltz, is to place a
4:3 bracket above either half or all the measure, whichever is
appropriate.
So for example, if the phrase is 888 8~88 (the ~ is a tie) and the last
two eights are to be played straight, I place a |4:3-| over the
I tried this and it works for in a DOS command prompt. It failed the same way in
my bash shell - it seems to want to use the python installed for Cygwin. Still,
this is a better solution to what I was doing.
Thanks,
Ted

As a jazz musician I like the designation "no swing" or "straight 8ths" with
a dashed line to scope it, as offered by another poster to this thread. The
notes themselves should be left alone. I'd put it below the staff in a
small font but a little higher than where dynamics are usually found.
Have you read the tutorial? A good place to start is here:

Looking over the tutorial may help you fill those empty documents, or
at least help you get an idea as to what to do with them.
As another general piece of advice, "reply all" is better than

Hello,
my current version of LilyPond is 2.8.1-1. I've found a new minor
upgrade. When I tried to install it, the installer said it found

Why is it bothering me with it and just doesn't ask: "Previous version

It would be much easier to help you if we knew what operating system
(Windows, OSX, or what Linux or BSD) you've tried to install Lilypond
in. It would also help if we knew what installer you used.

I get somewhat different output actually, but with the same collision
problem. My best solution so far is to change the tie to a slur.
Probably if you do this you should tweak whatever slur property
determines how far the slur is from the notes, so it'll look more like
a tie.

This is not the clearest part of the interface. Each backend knows

Hello,
Lilypond now works very well, both 2.8.1 and 2.4.1, since I had not to
delete any lilypond-snapshot to install the 2.8.1. I just had to
uninstall once more and install again as Cameron Horsburgh suggested.
Below are just some answers to Pedro Kröger.
Thank you all so much.

Just use
\markup {\override #'(font-name . "Petrucjt") \lower #number {d} }
and

Hi,
I'm trying to print a score using 2.8 (on Windows XP).
Because there is a header and multiple pages, the first system is forced
to the bottom of the first page.
The rest are fine and are at the top of subsequent pages.
Anybody know why?
Cheers in advance,
Ralph
