Thanks for the tip. What I ended up doing was writing a script to
introduce a new syntax. I find \melisma ... \melismaEnd quite
cumbersome so I now use [[ to start a melisma and ]] to end it. The
Makefile runs it through a simple perl script to convert foo[[ into
\autoBeamOn foo\melisma and ]] i

Hi list !
I'm using Lily 2.0.1 on WinXP.
I've structured a four parts piece same as the orchestral example in Lilypond book, so
that I can
extract parts very easely.
The problem is that the whole piece is divided into several pieces which has each a
name.
My script has this shape :

\melisma and \autoBeamOn are different kinds of events; \melisma is attached
to the preceding note (similarly to things like staccato dots, -. ) so it
cannot be placed in a { } block the way you did. You can probably do
something like
m = \notes {s8\melisma \autoBeamOn}
and then use it like

I'm setting vocal music, and I've noticed that beaming seems to follow
normal rules within a melisma. I normally turn off autobeaming for

The problem is that the package tetex-tiny, that is installed
when you install lilypond doesn't contain all the fonts that
are actually used in LilyPond. The solution for you is to
simply rerun setup.exe and select the package called tetex-base,
which contains a complete set of font files.

Hi,
First of all, thanks for a wonderful piece of software. I've been using
LilyPond for about a year now and although I still cannot do some things
as easy as I could with Finale (which I've been using for 10+ years), I
think LilyPond is great and getting better with each new version!
However,
I hope you realize that bash is just a small part of the cygwin
system (which is a UNIX/Linux-like system for Windows). So, in addition
to the answer you alreade received, you might find some useful documents
at http://www.cygwin.com/ and in books about UNIX or Linux as well.
