Yep, you are right. I added windows style line endings to the original file,
then ran 'diff -u' again and got this smaller file.

Using environment variables in Windows is generally unsupported I think.
So I'd also prefer using the registry and the user's file associations
instead, setting a default one if there is nothing set.

how you installed the program and what platform you use.
