If you really need to run Linux under Windoze, try the CoLinux
(http://www.colinux.org/) project. It contains a kernel fully ported
to run under windows, and once you install it, you just run it and
it's like you have a full linux environment accessed through SSH. You
need image files to use LFS.
I kind of ran into the same situation when I tried compiling GCC last
night on MSYS/Mingw. It failed due to the amount of Linux stuff missing
from Msys so I abandoned it and migrated over to doing the CLFS off of a
Linux host.
Thank you for you input.

Shane,
the Linux kernel actually requires gcc to build
proper
I never saw this come through so if it is duplicated I am sorry.

I found MSYS while I was investigating QEMU. Has anyone tried to use
it to compile LFS?
