As the title states, I successfully booted my shiny new LFS-6.1.1
system with the aid of the grub rescue disk! You should've seen the
grin on my face when it happened... priceless. It's a "by the book"
system with almost no variations except for booting. /boot is hdb1,
swap is hdb2, and / is hdb

Are you *sure* you're ready for LFS? If you were among the technically
experienced users it is designed for, you'd realise just how assinine

Compiling the kernel without alsa and separately compiling the latest
stable driver package (1.0.10) solved my problem.
I've tried to find out what went wrong. It seems that the AC97 codec
(which comes with the driver, either fron the kernel source or the
driver package) didn't load properly. I don

Having gone through "LFS Version 6.1" way more times than I
want to admit I am trying to figure out what I keep doing
wrong. I think one of my problems is a lack of knowledge in

Did you actually configure your fonts as explained in the subsequent
sections of the book Chapters 25 and 26?
Did I miss something?
Sorry - I meant the last two sections of Chapter 25 and not 26 - My

Try to run it with:
