There is no plasma-workspace-dbg package for Kubuntu 16.10 (and 17.04),
which makes it difficult to diagnose problems related to plasmashell.
The package is present for 16.04. Please, add the package for other
releases as well.

Just upgraded to Kubuntu 14.04. KDE Driver manager suggested to install
proprietary drivers for Nvidia video card. I selected the recommended
driver (331.38) and accepted. The driver manager started the
installation process but hung on 81%, all I could do is to close it.

The problem is still present in Kubuntu 14.10.
Is it possible to package oxygen-gtk with the updated config as in
comment 11 so that users are not affected until the upstream bug is
fixed?

The kubuntu-desktop package has a Recommends dependency on memtest86+,
which is not really usable on modern systems with UEFI. If that package
is installed, update-grub displays warnings such as this:
Memtest86+ needs a 16-bit boot, that is not available on EFI, exiting

On automatic login, SDDM does not unlock gnome-keyring, which suspends
the boot process and asks for a password. The boot process blocks until
the password is entered. Apparently, the boot process stops because
Pidgin is in the autostart list and it requires access to the keyr
Note that the attached modified pam.d/sddm and pam.d/sddm-autologin
files are the result of my attempts to fix the problem. The problem
exists with the original files.

why it was done and how one can configure GTK scaling factor in KDE
going forward. If there isn't a way, I would consider it a regression in
KDE, and it that case, was it reported upstream?
