Hi Serge When the GPS is trying to establish itself it needs to consider satellites that may be below it's normal limit of elevation so it really is helpful to ensure you place the unit in a wide open space. Afterwards it's not's so critical as it will choose those which are higher. By the way,

Hi Serge Unfortunately I no longer have the 315 but have gone ( backwards ) to a 300. During the initialisation the receiver is collecting ephemeris data, a bit like fine tuning itself to the satellite. But it's not the strength of the signal itself that is important at this stage, it's more abo
