Hi, Brian.
I don't know the specifics of the Light Speed design, but mine comes from
old motorcycles, and comes straight from a junk yard. Same principle, I
guess: crankshaft operated.Has worked 400 hours without a glitch, and

My opinion is:
1 - Works great, starts easy.
2 - Timing
That's what it looks like. Honda used this ignition system on CB750( K&F

they called it the CB1000 Bold'or, and would assume it was the same. It
was in use from 1979-1982. For the most part all parts should be still

This is one of my pet subjects, so allow me to give you my very biased
opinion, and my personal solution.
Magnetos date back to the stone age of the automotive industry. Being a
geared system, they are, by essence, very unreliable. This is the very
reason why there are two of them on an a

RE: I once saw a brand new Lycoming engine with a very strange ignition
system: it had one set of plugs on magneto, and the other set on electronic.
Only in aviation can you find such strange things...
That is exactly the way outs is set up because I wanted the best of both.

Here are some quick answers to your questions. I hope I use the right
terms. I only have practical knowledge of the system, so just tell me if I
am unclear.
