instrument panel) had a pin hole in it that I "soldered" up with
"aluminum weld rod"
I added wing tanks in the stubs of my first KR. and did the bottom similar to
what you are describing.
Started with the plane upside down. Cut big rectangle out from rear spar to
forward spar and put sides and front and back in the area with foam. I made a
lip on what was to be the tank botto

Lining/repairing the wing tanks.
I did this to my KR2, though mine leaked due to an accident. Sorry not
photos of the work, I'm camera shy.
Here are a couple of points to ponder:
- Use vinyl ester resin
- Old tank surfaces must be ground with a grinder to ensure a good bond.
