Technically, the GO-300 on the Cessna 175 doesn't have a PSRU,
it's just a geared engine, sorta. They modified a standard O-300
with a beefed up crank/cam gear set and put the prop hub on the
cam gear.

I think the main application for PSRUs in aircraft, is if you're running
an engine with an absurdly-high operating RPM/power-curve, that you need
to bring down to make using a prop practical...
For example, if you're powering your plane with a Subie motor that
red-lines at 6k+, you're obviously

I have designed 2 of them for small vehicle applications at my last job,
and worked on 2 others that someone else designed. I will tell you that
though in theory they are simple, in practice they are full of gremlins.
I wouldn't go as far as to say yo

Hi everybody.
I've got a KR-2S going - for the last 15 years - haven't worked on it
much in the
last 4 or 5 years other than to start it now and then.
It's a Subaru EA-81 (push rod) it was electronic fuel injected, but I
switched to
Ellison throttle body sucking thru the turbo. It's got a PSRU -
On removal of the aluminium prop hub I found some small areas of surface
pitting and patches of light corrosion on the surface of the propeller drive
shaft on my Reductions belt drive PSRU. Is this going to be a problem? Do I
need to replace the shaft or is it likely to be still ok?
Cheers
Martin

Gavin, There is a man who advertises in the classified
ads in Kitplanes magazines who sells plans to build
PSRU's. I don't recall his name, but the name of his
business is "Reductions". I believe he is located in
Canada. I bought a set of plans from him and was well
satisfied with them. He also sel
HI all I've been looking back through the archives about PSRU's for Subaru
engines, and in about 2001 there was some posts about plans to construct one. I
intend to build my own and most of the parts are available in my home town.
Can anybody direct me to anyone who has the plans available plea
