Good evening,
Looking for KR2 Grove one piece landing gear for project.
Anyone have one lying around they don't plan to use?
Willing to pay fair price plus shipping.
Feel free to contact me off net.
Thank you,

There is a certain amount of camber angle to the gear to compensate for a/c
weight. Does anybody have the camber angle in degrees?
I'm thinking of trying to make some fiberglass maingear and I'd like a starting
point for that angle if anyone can help.
I'll make the gear, post some pics and test
Having just made my own 'glass gear, I can tell you
this... It's a tedious process :-) The camber angle
is based on how much deflection of the gear leg at
what weight, so the answer is "it depends".
My legs are 25.5 inches long (hyp dim) at a 45deg
angle. I ended up with a calculated angle of 2

Hrmm... Well something like 40 layers of
unidirectional (15 oz) and 12 or so layers of tri-ply
woven (22 oz). I don't have my sketch in front of me
here at work, so I don't remember for sure.
They are an inch think at the mount locations on the

Did you get any pics of the Cleveland brake setup on the Grove gear. Let me

Hello Net
As usual, Tweety is a no show. We did not make the trip to Hartford and on to
Oshkosh. In place of making the trip I have been working on the Cleveland
wheel swap. I need to see a picture of the grove gear with Cleveland's

I was just looking at my new Grove one piece gear and seeing how the wheels
and brakes would go on. I had the gear gun drilled for the brake lines.
They obviously drill from the end of the legs and the 1/4" NPT thread comes
out the bottom of the legs pointing straight down. In order to have the

I know about how long it will take to remove the retracts, fix the holes in

The gear will have to be streamlined and hydraulic lines installed prior to
glassing for reinforcement (
The grove gear can be ordered streamlined and with the hydraulic galleys pre
drilled in the leg. No glassing is required as it is an aluminum gear. The
only glass work that you will need to do is the fairing of it into the
fuselage bottom. I think it is the most simple gear installation available.

Hello Brian
Back in "91", I converted from the retract to the Rand fixed Gear. The
gear that Rand sold at the time came with attach brackets. They were an
exact match, and actually bolted in the same holes that the retract used. I

There are some pictures on my web site. Easy installation ( I did not
say inexpensive).

Bernie,
I love that gear and installation. Why did you choose the two piece over the

Thanks Bernard. Never knew about gundrilling before so I had a quick
look around the web - amazing equipment, I am pleased that I now know
about it -
The brackets for my Diehl tri-gear are tight against the fuselage of my
standard plans KR-2. The tire width is 7 ft. Still building.

Well, it turns out that Rand Robinson no longer sells the one piece spring
bar gear that fits in the existing retract mounting bolt holes. Apparently,
they had to be bought ten at a time, prices have gone way up, and the guy
that used to make them has died. Looks like I am back to getting the Gro

I talked to Jeanette at the last gathering. In that conversation
she stated that the gear she offered was made by Grove. Robbie

I've got the Diehl variety landing gear and it works very well,.With the
one piece designs I would think you'd need to fair in the cross section

most of the work is completed coming out of the box since both side will

I would go with the single piece because it will give you "little to no"
alignment problems. Also, get it "gun drilled".
