best place to place pitot static is in the leading
edge of your wing out of the prop wash area.
problem is how do you keep people from walking
into it including yourself ( I'm sure everyone on
the planet has klutzy moments). I tried it, it
didn't last long & no it wasn't me.

This has been mentioned here before, but Paul Martin and others solved this
by installing a removable pitot probe. Just a short stub of aluminum tube
that inserts into a larger piece that's installed in the wing. Part o
We have our static on both sides of the fuselage and the pitot is under the
outboard wing attached to the forward spar, well out of the way of "passers
by".
