HI All I'm about to order the piston and cylinder kits from either Great Plains ($220us) or California import parts. As a Canadian is this the best place to get the parts? I'm over hauling the engine just because of the time on it 600 flying hours. The old cylinder were 92mm but I did not see any

Darren, You do not need shims if your deck height is what you want for the compression you are seeking and both sides are balanced. You might consider getting a VW engine book from JC Whitney, GPASC, or maybe your local parts store. Your source in California most likely has a book. N64KR Dani
