There have been many gear failures with the retractable gear, but there must be a way to do it right as I tested mine terribly the first time I flew it and it passed with colors. I foolishly took it to the nearest airport from where the plane was stored, 2700 ft. Oceanside, CA. I ended up slidi

If you could completely close up the hole into which the gear retracts, it would be faster, but all that stuff still hanging out there with that big open hole, is what makes it about 5mph slower. - I don't see how Diehl's gear, or any gear, hang

"I don't see how Diehl's gear, or any gear, hanging in the wind can make a plane faster than one with nothing hanging down at all." The "stock" RR retractable landing gear does not retract flush with the bottom of the wing. It rotates straight back until the tire almost touches the top surface of

Get a TAS on your plane and document all the variables. Convert it to fixed gear as some of us have already done, and do it again. Then you will know, as those of us, who have DONE it, know. Why does everything have to be a debate? State the facts, and the builder makes up his mind and does i
