After 15 months of not piloting an aircraft, I finally got a flight in on the
KR last night.
I have to say, out of the 50 or so different aircraft models I have flown, this
thing is my favorite. Very responsive yet very stable. A hard balance to strike!
To recap, I had been having oil pressure
My Type 4 VW has the oil temp sender in the sump, and I'm told the oil temp
could reach 130c 266f. in the sump.
But I'm also told the oil should not go above 100c 212f,
Where are you guys locating your oil temp senders with the Type 4 VW's

The warning light works well but the gauge seems to go from a high reading
to a low reading when the oil warms up and of course with revs.reducing.The
gauge may be suspect ,
I looked over the specs for the oil temp on my GPASC 2180. It says that
cruise temp is supposed to be between 190 and 200 degrees. That is 10
degrees of variance. Does this seem reasonable when the OAT can vary
magnitudes more than that? Does anyone have a device to control the temp to
such a f

The oil pressure is boosted by changing the spring in the oil pressure
regulator. You can also get the same effect by putting a washer or two
under the spring. That is even an ac

I found out about an oil pressure booster for this engine. Has anyone ever
used such a thing? It costs all of $8 and is easy to install.

This may not be right but I belive that single grade oils don't break down,
onl multi-grades.
There's nothing in single grades to break down.

Larry,
I am sure that you grin all the time. You have probably had less problems
than anyone. Build it, fly it. That is the way it should always be. I was
thinking about you the other day. I think the only problem that we are
aware of, was the fire.

Don't know how it works. I think it is just a stronger spring that keeps
the pressure relief valve more closed. The one I bought has two springs,
for a dual relief case. I have that they definitely will work. In fact the
VW expert here, told me that it should take my pressure from the 27 or so

It contains a good desription of various oil types. Modern oils,
especially synthetic oils, can run much hotter than the oils that were
originally around when the 1600/1800 beetle engines ent
