Does anyone else with an O-200 notice that the EGT gets about 100 degrees
hotter when throttled back than at full throttle? I have noticed that when
I cruise at my normal altitude around 9,000' at full throttle (about 65%
power) that my peak EGT is a little over 1,400 degrees. If I just pull the

aircraft carbs are set up to enrich the mixture at full throttle for
detonation resistance during takeoff. That's my guess. It probably depends
on your exact carburetor more than anything else.
