I would just like people to know my experience with Modley Crankshaft at
Dearborn Heights, MI. About 5 months ago I gave them a call about doing the
crankshaft work for my engine. I told them everything that I needed done and
they gave me a ballpark price. So I sent it off for them to complete
Just wanted to let everyone know that it is not impossible to thread the crank

a local machine shop which caters to industry, (not an automotive machine
shop). I told them that the crank had been nitrated but he was n
Sent my crank to Nitron today. I called to let them know it was being shipped
and ask about wheather it should be turned proir to nitrating or turned after

Sorry to hear about your forced landing.
Good to hear you are OK.
Was the crank a standard VW or forged or after market crank?
Prop forces on a direct drive engine can be devastating.

Hi, all;
I have a 2" steel extension on my 1834cc Hapi. I feel I should have one
made of 2024 aluminum after reading about recent crank failures. Did
these incidents involve extensions, and if so, what material was used to
make them?
Any thoughts in regard to this will be appreciated.
