Alcohol has too much vapor pressure and will likely dissolve the diaphragm
and seals (old sailing vessels did use alcohol, thus the name "whiskey
Compass"). Order the repair kit and inst
As long as it is clear enough for you to read the compass, it would work. You
can buy a small bottle of clear lamp oil at most hardware stores. That is also
a light kerosene and would work well.

Remove old fluid and put kerosene in it. Can I use kerosene from a Boeing? Is
